Howdy boys and girls!
I'm working on a 4 page update for next wednesday, but in the meantime I'd like to draw the ladies' attention to Lea Hernadez's latest announcement:
WOMEN WEBCOMICKER GRANT NAN is now open for submissions!
Guidlines are here!I'd like to personally make myself availible to anyone who wants it for editorial help in getting your submission together. Just shoot me an email (mequinn AT gmail with the dot com) if you'd like help. I think it's just tremendous of Lea to do this. Not that we have a terrible shortage of women drawing webcomics, but we don't have so nearly many high profile ones and this is an oppurtunity to show off what we gals can do. Not that there's anything wrong with boys (Hello Andy and Trout!), but comics as a whole seem a little too male dominated to me. Webcomics are doing a lot to poke at the holes in mainstream comics, but a big thrust of women doing a variety of work adds so much to that effort. And goodness knows I like variety in my comics.
Speaking of comics I like, I wrote up a
defense of Josh Lesnick's Girly in my livejournal yesterday in response to a Fleen review of the book.
In other news,
BOYFIGHT... IN SPACE, my mini comic, is hot off the presses and about ready to be sold. I just have to set up some way of recieving payment! The comics will be $2, plus some shipping.

It's time for a new issue of Eat the Roses!
I outdid myself this time. If actually counting page per day updates, I averaged 1.5 pages per day. Yes, I had to backdate stuff I already put up to get all 6 new pages on the website, but this makes up for me being so slow before.
It starts here!I'm going to shoot for at least 3 pages done per week, but they'll be posted randomly depending on how the story flows through them. I'd really like to keep up this pace, mostly because Andy has outdone himself and written several issues in advance! We won't be stopping for anything lame like writer's block on THIS comic, no sir!
I also made the decision to stick with the color, even though coloring every page can be a pain. It just looks so nice and shiny! But I did get a chance to break out some different black and white art for this update. Hope it looks just as cool to everyone else!
I'd also like to remind any Ottawa-area folk that I'll be at
C-CACE this weekend. We've got an honest-to-goodness webcomic panel on Saturday.

Howdy!Um . . . I liek right and stuff. I couldn lit Megs took all tha credits - thow herr artsin' sho' iz purdy!
Dontcha think!?
So the newsbox went up faster than I imagined! Wowza!
Like the picture of Ed I drew up really quickly? (it's the same pose as an upcoming page in the next issue, you'll see, but reinked, just because I liked it so much)
I stuck it into a wallpaper as well.
Go on over and browse. I've got a couple others up as well. One other brand spankin' new, and another the more intrepid readers have already discovered!
Maybe next I'll finally get around to fixing all the menus, as I kinda screwed with the code and messed them up so they're not entirely the most visible things.
Scroll on down in the blog for some reccommendations and possibly the only convention I'll make it to this year!

Misc stuff
Wow, two posts in a half hour!
Looks like I'm making at least one convention this year, and that's mostly because it's happening right in Ottawa! I'll be at the
Canadian Arts and Cartooning Expo (aka C-ACE) with my husband and the righteously awesome Matt Trepal, of
Fight, Cast or Evade. We've got a panel and a possible webcomics jam session on Saturday. More updates closer to the convention!
(If you don't read Matt's comic, now's a really good time to jump in, in my opinion. Start
here and keep going. Matt's just started a new art style and I think it's incredible and gives him so much more range. I also love the dream sequence at the beginning of the link there. Reminds me of a certain movie adaptation of a certain book about rabbits. Hmmm...!
Speaking of other people's comics: Faith Erin Hicks has made her comic
Ice free!
Read it here! It's good stuff.
HOORAY!
So the first chapter is
fin. I just got back from vacation, so this took a little longer than I anticipated. I also slugged out a mini comic that'll be availible soon. But the next pages are coming along at a nice clip and I'm working on ways of updating faster, especially since Andy's WAY ahead on scripting.
I also drew a sort of scandalous
cover image for my husband's comic, Naught Framed. He requested cows, he got a crotch shot. This is what happens when you draw
excessive pantie shots, fellas! You get burly men critch shots!!!
I'd better get to work on those new pages. We left you at a sort of cliffhanger on that last page, huh? After such a light
romp, to boot!
